Nickel Smelter
Through PT Mitra Murni Perkasa, MMS Solution is building the first nickel smelter in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, as an essential part of our sustainability strategy. This facility is designed to produce low-carbon nickel matte to support the EV battery supply chain, with a production capacity of up to 28,000 MT per year through RKEF 2x48MVA production lines.
We operate in accordance with ESG principles, design the smelter with energy efficiency, follow the IFC Performance Standards, and support clean energy through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from PLN. As a form of commitment to the environment and reducing emissions, we do not build a coal- fired power plant to support the operation of this smelter. Instead, MMP utilizes existing electricity infrastructure from PLN which has lower emissions, thus supporting the creation of a more environmentally friendly and sustainable nickel supply chain.
